OrthoIndy Foundation

In December of 2012, OrthoIndy established and funded the OrthoIndy Foundation, whose Mission Statement reads as follows:
The mission of the OIF is to improve mobility and function, specifically for the residents of Central Indiana –with a particular emphasis on veterans and the elderly– by benefiting the end users to increase self-sufficiency, promote wellness, and improve the quality of life for those affected by orthopedic issues.
Management of the OIF’s funds was entrusted to the Central Indiana Community Foundation (CICF). CICF performs all due diligence activities and vetting of grant requests by 501(c)3 non-profits. Strategic direction of the OIF’s philanthropic activities is done by the OIF Advisory Committee.
In its first two years of operation, the OIF confined its grants to a variety of small and medium sized projects, with its major effort being directed to Habitat for Humanity. In 2015, the OIF took a major step forward as a philanthropic force in Central Indiana, awarding grants totaling $725,000, the major components of which were the Indianapolis Fire Department’s Survive Alive Village, Servants at Work, the Indianapolis Neighborhood Housing Partnership, St. Anthony Parish Gymnasium, Indiana Canine Assistance Network, Morning Dove, Back On My Feet and, again, Habitat for Humanity. Additionally, 100% of OrthoIndy’s employees’ charitable donations were matched dollar for dollar.
In late 2015, CICF presented OIF with a singular opportunity to not only meet its stated mission of assistance to persons with mobility issues, to veterans, and to the greater Central Indiana community, but to establish itself as a driving force in the effort to enhance the lives of the residents of the community that OrthoIndy calls home – Pike Township. The OIF’s “leadership gift” of $3,000,000 will enable the Pike OrthoIndy Foundation YMCA, with its pioneering, one-of-a-kind, “veteran-centric” focus, to become a reality for the veterans and general population of Northwest Indianapolis. The Pike OrthoIndy Foundation YMCA will be a unique partnership between the Veterans Administration and the YMCA, and is intended to be a model for similar partnerships throughout the U.S.
