Having surgery can be a nerve-racking experience. No matter what type of procedure you may be having, it's nice to have all the information you need prior to being taken back to the operating room. Take a look inside our operating rooms and learn a little more about what to expect.
Want to know more about a particular surgery? Make sure to visit the Videos page for clips of surgeries performed at OrthoIndy Hospital.
On the day of surgery you will arrive to OrthoIndy Hospital usually about two hours prior to surgery. One of our concierge staff will greet you at the front desk and give you and your family a tour of the facility. You will then be registered and taken back to a pre-op room where you will prepare for your procedure. A number of nurses and physicians will go over everything with you before going back to surgery.
From the moment you arrive, the staff will begin a process known as our Safe Surgery Plan. This plan is designed to make sure that all the important information about you and your surgery is communicated to all staff involved in your surgical experience, including: personal information, medical history, education for you and your family, explaining procedures, obtaining consents and having you confirm the correct surgical site.
An OrthoIndy anesthesiologist will discuss the type of anesthesia you will receive. Please visit the Anesthesia Information page for more information.
