Rayann received her bachelor of arts in biology and chemistry from Franklin College in 1998. She graduated with a Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies from AT Still University in 2003. She started her career in orthopedic surgery in 2003 covering subspecialties ranging from pediatrics, hand and upper extremity, foot and ankle, joint replacement, spine, and trauma, but found her passion focusing on common sports injuries in the knee and shoulder. She has been employed with Dr. Kendall at OrthoIndy since 2011.
Rayann’s role is to work in a collaborative manner with Dr. Kendall to diagnose and treat patients. As a physician assistant, she is trained to take a patient’s history, perform a physical exam, order and interpret X-rays and laboratory studies, and to diagnose patients and implement treatment plans. In the clinic, she reviews X-rays, performs injections and educates patients on their condition and the expected course of treatment and outcome. This includes new patients, following up with patients from OrthoIndy Urgent Care and following post-operative patients. She serves as the worker’s compensation liaison for Dr. Kendall. In surgery, she is the first assistant to Dr. Kendall and also works to position patients appropriately, prepare tissue grafts, perform wound closure and apply any necessary bracing/splinting.
Rayann works both independently and alongside Dr. Kendall to ensure their patients have the best outcomes possible.
