What to expect
Whether you are coming in for an office visit in Brownsburg or having a surgical procedure, Dr. Kendall wants you to know what to expect.
Clinic Visit
Preferably you will be able to receive an email from our office prior to your appointment that links you to our pre-visit forms and research/outcomes forms. These are critically important for your treatment and for the development of even more effective treatment protocols for others in the future. If you are a new patient and you do not receive this link or are unable to complete the forms, please arrive 30 minutes early for your appointment. This will give you time to fill out the necessary paperwork in person.
When you arrive for your appointment at OrthoIndy West, please sign in at our front desk. One of our medical assistants will call you back to the exam room. You may also be asked to change into shorts or a gown so that you may be examined more thoroughly.
Generally, X-rays will be ordered and performed in our office.
In some cases, Dr. Kendall’s physician assistant may initially see you and perform an exam.
After the X-rays and exam are complete, your diagnosis and treatment plan will be discussed in detail. If further testing or therapy is prescribed, it will be scheduled at the TeamStation upon checkout.
If surgery is recommended, the procedure, including its risks, benefits and postoperative course, will be explained to you in detail so that you can make an informed decision regarding your treatment plan. A patient service coordinator will be in contact with you to schedule your surgery date, time and location
Surgery
A patient service coordinator will be in contact with you by phone to schedule the date, time and location of your surgery.
Dr. Kendall performs surgery at the OrthoIndy Hospital West.
You will be mailed instructions for surgery. In general, you will be asked to arrive two hours prior to your scheduled procedure. Please remember the surgical times are approximations. The schedule may and does change usually from factors beyond our control.
Just before surgery, you will meet with the anesthesiologist. You will discuss options including general anesthesia, blocks and monitored anesthesia care.
Dr. Kendall will also meet with you prior to surgery. Remember to ask all of your questions. We want you to be well informed and comfortable pre-operatively. He will mark the appropriate surgical site at this time.
After surgery, Dr. Kendall will discuss your surgery with your family and show intra-operative images if applicable. He will also give them a post-operative booklet.
