Getting in a car after joint replacement surgery
It’s helpful to practice getting in and out of the car prior to your surgery. If you’re going to be riding in the front seat, you simply back up to the seat, sit down, and turn yourself around.
If you’re riding in the back seat, you’re going to want to enter the car on the side that you had surgery. That way you have your non-operative leg to help scoot you back in the seat.
To get out of the car, you’re going to scoot yourself forward and make sure that you come out on the non-operative leg.
